Thank you for taking the time to apply to the Adoption Initiative, Fr. Dennis Mullen Fund for a grant to help with your journey of becoming a parent.  The adoption of our children who need forever homes are of the utmost importance to Fr. Dennis Mullen and the Fund committee.

Our grant awards are given on a yearly basis.  Applications are accepted after July 1st of the year, will be considered for the July award of the next year.

Once your application is received, the applicant will be notified via email that the application has been submitted and then the committee will notify the applicant of the interview.

We require a letter of introduction from two people who are not related to you and one from your Pastor.

Grant Selection Process

  1. The Fr. Dennis Mullen Adoption Initiative Fund Committee meets monthly to review the applications submitted to AIFDMF.  The committee will then set up times and dates to meet with the applicants.
  2. After personal contact, the AIFDMF will again review the applications and award the grant.
  3. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application via US mail within 10 days of the Committee’s decision.

Criteria for Applications

A completed application along with the supporting documents must be received.  Those that are not completed or do not have the supporting documents will not be considered.

Applicants must prove a financial need.

Applications

Applications must not be submitted for reimbursement for an already completed adoption.

Applications will be reviewed by AIFDMF committee, then those completed applications that meet all described criteria and exhibit the greatest financial need, significant obstacles, and hardships will be presented to and reviewed by the committee for final selection.  The final decision will be on a case-by-case basis.

Please do not call or email to follow-up on your submitted application, unless you are invited to by the AIFDMF committee.

Grant monies must be utilized within six (6) months from when the check arrives at the provider, otherwise, the monies will be returned and used for the next funding cycle.

If at any time the recipient terminates their adoption plans, the grant money will be forfeited and returned to the AIFDMF.

AIFDMF accepts applications regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or marital status.

AIFDMF committee members are not allowed to apply for this grant.
